Health Tips: Exercises for Asthma Patients

One of the goals of asthma treatment is to help you live a normal life and health, such as exercise and other physical activities. After your action plan for asthma by taking medications as prescribed by your doctor, avoiding triggers and monitor your symptoms and lung function will help you to achieve this goal.

If asthma symptoms prevent you speak from full participation in the activities,ask your doctor about asthma. A small change in your action plan for asthma may be all that is needed to provide relief from asthma during exercise or activity.

What types of exercises are best for people with asthma?

Activities, the short intermittent periods of stress, such as is volleyball, gymnastics, baseball and wrestling, these are usually tolerated by people with asthma symptoms.

Activities, the long periods of stress, such as football, long distance running, basketball and hockey include, perhaps less well tolerated. What should I do to control my asthma when I exercise?

  • Always use your asthma inhalers before training (inhaled bronchodilators) before beginning the exercise.
  • Perform warm-up exercises and maintain appropriate cooling down after exercise.
  • If the weather is cold move indoors or wear a mask or scarf over your mouth and nose.
  • If you have allergic asthma, avoid exercising outdoors when pollen counts are high, and if it. Highly polluted
  • Limit exercise if you have a viral infection such as a cold.
  • Exercise is suitable to a level for you.
  • Maintaining an active lifestyle is important for physical and mental health. Remember, asthma is no reason to avoid exercise. With proper diagnosis and effective treatment, you should be able to take advantage of an exercise program without enjoying asthma symptoms.

What should I do if I have an asthma attack in the exercise?

If you experience symptoms of asthma during exercise start, stop and reset your medication before exercise by inhalation (quick relief medication such as albuterol). If your symptoms go away completely, you can start the exercise. If your symptoms return, stop the activity, repeat your quick relief medicine and call your doctor for further advice.
